Healing Your Grief Like a Boss
THERE ARE 10 ESSENTIAL STEPS TO HEALING YOUR GRIEF LIKE A BOSS!
“A coward asks the question – is it safe?
Expediency begs the question – is it politics?
Vanity asks the question – is it popular?
But conscience asks the question – is it right?
And there comes a time when you have to take a stand
which is not safe, political or popular;
but it must be taken BECAUSE it is right.”
~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Many events in life are beyond our control, but there comes a time when you have to take a stand. Choose to do it now.

You have a global pandemic of hope, not fear! Keep hope in your heart and mind. Think about hopeful events in your life every day.
Healing like a boss 3
Be grateful. It is vital to your recovery from grief that even though you have experienced severe grief and loss, you realize that you have much to be thankful for and hope for in your life. Count your many blessings. Make a list of the blessings of your gratitude.

Don’t bury your emotions. Before all other actions, don’t bury your emotions. In its own way, releasing deep sad emotions is a necessary step in healing. Write your deepest emotions in a journal. Verbalize your emotions. Tell your story.

Look inward for your inner strength. The best measure of your strength is how well you respond to unwanted, often unexpected circumstances. You have a power within you that you may not have discovered yet. Connecting with your inner strength is essential and can be an exciting discovery. Maybe you haven’t needed this undiscovered power until now. It takes determination and effort. You have that inner strength.

Seize the moment. You can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, with life on hold because of your unique personal pandemic experience. Rising above the pain point in your life is a better choice. You have the inner strength to not just prepare to live, but to live. Choose to live within your means now.

Call your grief what it is – grief. In experiencing unwanted and unexpected sadness, grief, and loss, I learned that I needed to call my grief what it was—grief. Once I fully understood the source of my grief, I was better able to identify the power of the unique sadness I was experiencing. Then I was able to deal with my situation of sadness on a new useful level.

In your grief healing journey, you will become aware of the many detours and emotions you will face. Feelings of hopelessness, helplessness and depression, not knowing where to turn for help, both physical and emotional pain, anger, regret, heartache and disappointment, to name a few. So, if some of the aforementioned emotions are part of your journey. Don’t be discouraged, these detours are normal and unique to many who grieve after terrible grief events. You can take these detours.

Find a caregiver. In fact, seek help from more than one caregiver. Early in your grief experience, you will become aware of and benefit from the help of others. At the beginning of my grief journey, New Hope proved to be a must-have and sought-after companion. A caregiver can help you find hope and peace during your recovery. If you haven’t already, find a trusted caregiver.

Do not leave God aside. Do not rely on your inspiration as the only source of healing aid. How to understand your grief? How can you wipe away your darkest grief? How to find a brighter tomorrow? These are all questions when faced with terrible grief, you look to your inspiration for answers.
After trying to better understand how you can deal with your grief, don’t leave God out of your healing formula.
“God gives the wind, man must raise the sail.”
~ St. Augustine
Communication with God can give you inspiration and strength beyond your own inspiration and ability. Nevertheless, after communion with your God, you realize that you must still raise your sail and seek the wind to heal from your unbearable sorrow.
“Healing blessings come in many ways, each suited to our individual needs, as He who loves us best knows. Sometimes the ‘healing’ cures our sickness or lifts our burden. But sometimes we ‘heal’ when we are given strength or understanding. or patience.” bear the burdens laid upon us.” ~ Elder Dallin H. Oaks November 2006 Ensign
You can start healing and stop grieving like a boss!
