The Myth About Soy – Is Soy Making You Fat?

Did you know that you can poison your body with high levels of toxins produced by too much soy in your diet? Studies have shown that a soy-based diet at any age can cause a weakened thyroid gland, which usually leads to heart problems and excess fat. Could this explain the dramatic increase in obesity today?

Are you overweight or obese? Eating a diet high in soy can seriously damage your health, not to mention sabotage your weight loss goals.

Most people are unaware of the many potent chemical toxins contained in soy. One of them is phytic acid, also called phytates. These acids prevent the body from absorbing important minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and especially zinc. Unfortunately, soybeans are very resistant to phytate-reducing techniques such as long slow cooking, so removing this toxin is all but impossible.

Soybeans also contain strong enzyme inhibitors. These inhibitors block the uptake of trypsin and other enzymes needed for protein digestion, causing severe stomach upset, reduced protein digestion and can lead to chronic amino acid absorption deficiencies.

Because of the way soybeans are produced and processed today (quick and cheap), it doesn’t matter what products you buy, organic or not. They all carry high levels of toxins and should not be eaten or eaten very little, as in Asian cultures. Contrary to popular belief, soy products have never been a staple food in Asian countries. Historically, soy was used by the poor during times of extreme food shortage, and only then were soybeans carefully prepared by long-term fermentation to destroy soy toxins.

The average US vegetarian today contains far more soy than Asians typically consume; they usually use small portions of soy to supplement their diet. A typical Asian diet consists of more natural products, much less fatty meat, more vegetables and more fish. They also have fewer chemicals and toxins in their diet because they eat far less processed (canned, canned, pickled, frozen) foods.

So, if you think soy will keep you and your kids from getting fat, think again. These claims come directly from the soy industry, which has led us all to believe in its “health food” properties. It really doesn’t make sense, especially when we know that farmers feed animals soy to fatten them up for slaughter as quickly as possible.

Soy is also high in isoflavones (phytoestrogens), which actually interfere with the thyroid’s ability to produce thyroid hormones, which means weight gain, fatigue, and depression. A soy-rich diet is also rich in isoflavones, and it doesn’t take much. Just one glass of soy milk a day, which is said to contain 30 to 45 milligrams, is enough to suppress thyroid function. With an underactive thyroid, it becomes increasingly difficult for you to lose any weight at all.

It is the isoflavones in soy that are supposed to protect us from heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and post-menopausal discomfort. Not so.

But the most alarming and extremely sad effect comes from feeding soy to infants. Although everyone knows breastfeeding is best; Today’s mothers think they are doing their newborns a favor by giving them soy-based formula instead of traditional milk-based formula. In fact, it causes devastating harm to our children.

Infants fed only soy formula have 13,000 to 22,000 times more estrogenic compounds in their blood than infants fed milk-based formula, the estrogenic equivalent of at least five birth control pills per day. Premature development in girls has been linked to the use of soy milk, as has stunted growth in boys.

Mothers who eat soy during pregnancy also put their babies at risk because isoflavones cross the placenta. This can disrupt the hormonal balance, especially during the first three months, when male fetuses are at a crucial stage of development and must have sufficient testosterone. Other problems associated with soy formula in infants of both sexes include extreme emotional behavior, depression, asthma, immune system problems, pituitary deficiency, thyroid disorders, and irritable bowel syndrome.

In general, there are a number of other health problems that may be associated with the consumption of soy foods, including: bladder, prostate, colorectal, thyroid, and breast cancer; precancerous lesions; heart disease; type 2 diabetes; malnutrition; stunted growth; flatulence; pancreatic problems; low libido: early puberty; anemia; lack of zinc; osteoporosis; intestinal damage; malabsorption and leaky gut syndrome; kidney stones; allergies; infant death; disorders of the immune system; thyroid disease – and the list goes on.

The soy industry is a powerful multi-billion dollar industry. And PR and funding to promote this “healthy food” is really causing a “health crisis”. Soy is dangerous for you and especially for your children. Don’t fall for their marketing tricks.
