If you want to lose weight, there are a few things that will guarantee your success.

One is knowing that it will take time. You won’t lose weight overnight. As the school year begins, set a goal for the new year. As the New Year approaches, set your sights on a summer vacation. Depending on how overweight you are, it will probably take about six months to really get the ball rolling. When you start dieting, it’s normal to lose about 5 pounds in the first week and then slow down. This is normal and don’t get discouraged. It’s the kind of thing that you have to keep going, even if you don’t seem to be getting results.

Another thing is that you have to be honest with yourself. You need to count calories and start exercising. You don’t have to have someone watching you every moment of the day. Even if you get nutrition support from your parents, they won’t know if you go to school and eat that pizza with cheese for lunch. Only you will know. If you skip that walk or run to watch TV or just hang out, you’ll suffer the consequences, not anyone else.

If you follow your diet plan, you can lose 7-10 pounds. If you can do it for a month, you can do it for two. That’s 20 pounds. If you can do this for six months, you can realistically lose about 40 pounds. My mom lost 60 pounds in six months and didn’t go on any crazy diet.
