Knee Deep In The Holy Spirit

Today we will study Ezekiel’s vision as described in verses 47:1-4). In this vision he had a guide to guide him through it. This vision foretells the beginning of the Church after the resurrection of Christ and explains the role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian’s life, which determines our spiritual growth and relationship with our Heavenly Father. I see new Christians every day anxious—even impatient to grow and receive all God’s blessings. – If this is you or you have lost what you once had, listen to what I have to say next.

The Holy Spirit lives within every believer the moment he is born again. The growth process is greatly accelerated when the believer consciously surrenders to Christ and the filling and control of the Holy Spirit. A believer empowered by the Holy Spirit, who is a faithful student of God’s Word, who has learned to trust and obey God, can go through different stages of spiritual growth and become a mature Christian in a short period of time. — Some Spirit-filled Christians show more fruit of the Spirit in one year than others who have not been taught or who have been believers for 50 years.

Ezekiel 47:1. –“Afterward he brought me back to the door of the house (temple – church); and behold, water came from under the threshold of the house toward the east, for the front of the house faced toward the east, and the water came down from the right side of the house under the south side of the altar.” — The water spoken of here is the Living Water – or the Holy Spirit.

We become more filled with the Holy Spirit as we study and submit to God’s Word. These waters came from God through the church and into the world. These living waters flow from Him.

Ezekiel 47:3 – “And when the man with the line in his hand went toward the east, he measured a thousand cubits and led me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles.” — Apparently the water issued from under the east gate as a small stream, flowing a thousand cubits, a little less than a third of a mile. Ezekiel then records, “A man . . . brought me through the waters,” and reports that it was by the ankle. (This symbolizes the area where a new convert or baby Christian walks)

Ezekiel 47:4 He measured a thousand again and led me through the waters; the water was knee deep. He measured a thousand again and led me through; there was no water. (This symbolizes spiritual growth and maturity as we walk deeper with the Holy Spirit).

The farther that water flowed, the deeper it got. Among other things, it symbolizes our continuing walk with the Lord, for as we walk through the Living Water and experience more of the Holy Spirit, we realize that His supply of grace and love is abundant and limitless.

CHRISTIAN – This is the area where we build our foundation. This is also why my church conducts a special 13-week class that teaches new converts the basics of Christian living. (Building the foundation of the company).

At the moment of salvation, we receive the Holy Spirit within. But it is up to each of us to decide how much of the Holy Spirit we want to fill our lives with.

Ezekiel 47:3 symbolizes the new Christian stepping into ankle deep living water. But if you’re looking forward to adulthood, you’ll have to walk steadily and downstream through this ankle-deep water. You notice in verse 4 that the water gets deeper as you walk downstream.

However, we see many Christians, both new and old, walking across, not downstream. They come on Sunday morning, step into the water from the shore of the world, and then step back onto the shore of the world as they leave the church. Our Firm Foundations class is started by well-intentioned people who don’t attend regularly. Some people never come to Sunday School – and only come to Sunday morning worship – never pray or read their Bibles – and then wonder why their lives are messed up or they don’t receive all of God’s blessings. These people aren’t even ankle deep – they barely put a toe in the water. In order to grow, they must walk downstream – search beneath the surface.

We let our little trials grow into big problems because of our “self-centeredness” and lack of faith in God’s Word,

We allow a “simple disagreement” to escalate into a major confrontation that leads to broken friendships or even broken homes. – But if we had walked in the Spirit and had a right relationship with God – it would have been just a “simple disagreement”.

Our faith grows by walking in the spirit and receiving the Word. But how many of us even open our Bibles for just a few minutes a day to receive His glory?

We can have as much of the Holy Spirit as we want. All we have to do is step into the water and walk down the stream.

The flow is available to each of us. It is your decision or choice to step into it and then have the wisdom and desire to walk downstream. Sometimes it requires sacrifice.

Spiritual maturity is always determined by our willingness to sacrifice our desires for the sake of the Kingdom of God or for the sake of others.

KNEE CHRIST – Ezekiel 47:4 – “He measured a thousand again and brought me through the waters, the water was up to my knees. He measured a thousand again and brought me through, the water was up to the thigh. ” (This symbolizes spiritual growth and maturity as we walk with the Holy Spirit deeper).

This is what the Holy Spirit does in the lives of those who yield to Him. We begin to experience His gracious provision as a small stream that flows out of Christ the Source, and its preciousness continues to grow as we walk daily in the stream in the light of His Word.

Ezekiel 47:7 “Now when I returned, behold, there were very many trees on the bank of the river on one side and on the other.”

When Ezekiel stepped out of the waist-deep water, he was startled to see that both banks of the river were lined with strong, healthy trees laden with rich fruit. (This symbolizes the masses of mature Christians in the church who taught the Word and bore new fruit.) This is where the Church will be at some time before the coming of Christ.

Galatians 5:22,23 “But when the Holy Spirit guides our lives, he bears these fruits in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

When we develop these fruits into mature Christians — broken marriages are mended, — forgiveness is easy, — telling others about Jesus is a joy (obsession), — we have acquired the patience to stand still and let God move in us. our lives, — God’s love is revealed through us through our good works, — our self-control is strengthened so that we can resist temptation, — we have the desire to serve God for his glory, — and we have the strength to experience joy, peace, and contentment , regardless of the situation. (How much better could life get?)

But in order to receive these things, we must step into that river of “living water” that Ezekiel saw in his vision, and keep walking until all these fruits flourish in our lives. When the Holy Spirit guides our lives, we crave the knowledge that is available to us through God’s Word. We lift our hands and our voices in praise as we sing to Him in our church services. We have a desire to become more like Jesus.

If you are a Christian and your life is out of control, stressed and struggling with temptation. Or you have an addiction that you can’t get rid of. If you are not experiencing joy and peace, then maybe you have stepped out of the water and need to step back. Or it’s only ankle deep (some of you have been there all your life) and the fruits can’t flourish. Then ask God to give you strength to move forward. We must keep walking until we receive enough of the Holy Spirit and Word to grow these fruits. We can have as much of the Holy Spirit as we want. All we have to do is walk downstream.

Ezekiel 47:7 symbolizes a mass of mature Christians who taught the Word and bore new fruit. Thousands begin to bring others to Christ through “Bridge Ministries”.
