Mentors, Advisors, and Coaches: It Takes a Village to Achieve Success

Over the past few months, I’ve come across a recurring concept. Whether in my efforts to market and promote my business; create your own services as a career and life coach; improve your speaking skills by participating in the WAO Toastmasters club; helping others realize their entrepreneurship; or to finish writing my new book, I have experienced the concept that “it takes a village to raise a child” time and time again.

In fact, because of these recurring “aha moments”, I now like to say that “it takes a village to make a person successful”.

Wouldn’t you agree?

If it wasn’t obvious to me before, it’s become very clear to me now that we all need help if we want to be successful in what we do.

However, even though I have become more aware of this fact, I remember times in my life and career when I did (and preferred to do) everything by myself. I did not seek or rely on the help of others to help me succeed.

But you?

Are you involved with someone who can help you move past obstacles in your life to personal achievement?

Have you built relationships with others who will help you advance your career?

Do you have an established “circle of influence” that helps you achieve your life and/or career goals?

If you were able to answer “YES” to all three questions, you’re in great shape. I commend you for your wisdom and actions.

However, if you answered “NO” to most of these questions, I want you to analyze why and then make the necessary changes to proactively reach out to those who can help you in your quest for productivity and success.

Author Pam Grout says, “We all stand on the shoulders of others at various times as we learn, grow, and develop new roles for ourselves.”

He is so right. I can honestly say that I have done just that. Their shoulders that we stand on are what I call “villagers” who help us learn, develop and grow.

Although I have occasionally fallen prey to going it alone for my success, I have been wise enough to have had my “villagers” to lean on and help me achieve personal and career success. .

how about you

Who are your “villagers”?

Do you have a support group you can turn to for help?

Since the concept of “it takes a village to make a person successful” has been very prominent in my life lately, I’ve been looking at where I’ve been successful and what “villagers” have gotten me there. success.

What I want to share with you here is what I call my MAC formula for the “villagers” you need in your life who will also help you achieve your success. Mentors, advisors, and coaches are the “villagers” who help you succeed.

But what is a mentor? What is a counselor? What is a coach? How do they help? Why are they important “villagers” to your success?

Let’s take a look at each of my recommended “villagers” below and why you can turn to them for help:

MENTORS

Mentors are the first group of villagers that I think can help you. My personal philosophy on mentors is that they are individuals who can help you “endeavor, navigate transitions, and successfully transition from reality.” Defined another way, mentors are simply a trusted advisor or guide. The blessing of interacting with mentors is that they can help you learn more about yourself; to motivate and encourage you when you are discouraged; and helps you identify and achieve your goals.

ADVISORS

Another group of “villagers” I recommend you work with are the advisors. Advisors are individuals who have in-depth knowledge in a specific area related to your personal life and/or career. A counselor is a great resource because he or she is like a guide, a teacher, and a friend. Although they don’t say what to do, they help you understand what you can do. With the help of a counselor, you can find solutions to your problems and new paths to success.

COACHES

The final group of “villagers” that I believe will help you succeed are the trainers. Coaches are individuals who can help you in the process of achieving a specific personal or professional result. When you connect with a coach, you are working with a partner who is dedicated to inspiring you to maximize your personal and professional potential.

Well, there you are – my MAC formula for the village it takes to succeed. Mentors, advisors, and coaches are the “villagers” who have helped me achieve personal and professional success. That’s why I encourage you to connect with yours to achieve personal and professional success as well.

Which ones are you currently involved with? Which ones do you need to connect with? What personal success are you striving for? How do you think they can help you succeed in your career?

Zig Ziglar says that “”Success depends on glands – sweat glands.” When you use my MAC formula to connect with mentors, advisors and coaches, your sweat glands will be replenished by a village that will help you succeed. .
